一个c / c ++文件需要经过预先(预处理),编译(编译),编译(汇编)和链接(链接)等四步,才能生成可执行程序。

在日常编译中,通常“编译”统称这四步:

  • gcc -c xxx .s:汇编

  • gcc -c xxx .c:预先,编译,汇编

  • gcc -o hello hello.c:预,编译,汇编,链接

预处理

gcc -E -o hello.i hello.c

  

预先用于将所有的#include头文件以及宏定义替换成其真正的内容,预先之后得到的仍然是文本文件,但文件体积会大很多。

编译

gcc -S -o hello.s hello.i

将通过预处理之后的程序转换成特定的汇编代码(汇编代码)的过程:根据.i文件编译得到汇流编码文件hello.s

汇编

gcc -c -o hello.o hello.s
或者
as -o hellp.o hello.s

汇编过程将上一步的汇编代码转换成机器码(机器代码),这一步产生的文件称为目标文件,是二进制格式。gcc汇编过程通过as命令完成或者通过-c选项

链接过程将多个目标文(.o)以及所需的库文件(.a或.so等)链接成最终的插入文件(可执行文件)

gcc -o hello hello.o

最终可以看到一个hello world的生成过程包含许多中间过程,进行预处理,编译,编译和链接。而我们日常使用gcc hello.c之间生成a.out忽略了许多中间环境。

本文以gcc为例,通过hello world应用程序,简单介绍了一个c / c ++应用的生成过程,旨在帮助构建加深理解,日常使用ide开发实际上屏蔽了很多细节,很多集成开发环境自动配置编译环境,开发者无需了解这些细节,不过当需要自己通过Makefie组织项目编译时,始终绕不开这些基本知识。
